The birth of a wine-making domain


2002-2003 :

- construction of the cellar on the domain
- restructuration of the vineyard in accordance with the specificities of each soil and end of the use of chemicals and weed-killer

2004 :

- creation of an underground storehouse for maturing the wine
- the complete « Les Classiques » series (3 red, 1 white and 1 rosé) is issued


2005 :

  -1st selection for the « Les Confidentielles » series


2007 :

- Florence, my wife, joins the domain


2008 :

- the domain obtains the Ecocert certification


2009 :

- we start making our own compost in accordance with the priciples of biodynamic
- the complete « Les Confidentielles » series (1 red and 1 white; a rosé vintage is planned for 2010) is issued
 
 

Today, the Château de la Selve is:


   a team of 7 people all year long plus a seasonal staff of a dozen people who work from the winter solstice (late december) to the summer solstice (late june);

    40 hectares and 6 different grape varieties: Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Merlot and Cabernet-Sauvignon for red wines and Viognier for white wines;

   an organic and biodynamic culture with no chemical fertilizer, no weed-killer and no insecticide since 2002 and the obtention of the ECOCERT certification in 2008;

    a very specific attention given to the balance and the life of soils;

    a naturally low yield (around 38 hl/hectare);

    choices that make it possible to extract as much minerality and expression from the soil and give vivacious wines a high delicacy and a subtle complexity.
